Rob Bodner, president of EFR Inc., is featured as a contributing columnist on American Coin-Op magazine's Web site.

In his column, "Asking Yourself the Right Questions Can Simplify the Expansion Process," Bodner talks about what you need to know about your operation before expanding, as well as what to look for in a second location.

Bargains in the laundry business can be found, he says, provided the store has good basics.

"Don't discount a dated store with old equipment. There are deals to be had, and we're looking for what I call "good bones" - all the factors that represent a good site. That means a highly visible location, ample parking and solid demographics. A low purchase price combined with solid bones may make upgrading the store with new machines and paint a far more attractive option than a "Grade A" store you might also be considering," he writes.
