"MEET & WASH", AN INNOVATIVE LAUNDRY CONCEPT WITH A SOCIAL DIMENSION, USING IPSO'S SMART WASHING MACHINES AND DRYERSMon, 07-03-2016
LDL Group, IPSO’s partner for Belgium, recently launched “Meet & Wash”, an innovative concept where the development of communal launderettes plays a central role, with a view to promoting contact among residents.
Johan Stuyven, CEO of LDL Group, explains the concept: “The population is growing around the world, but there is less space available for housing. The increasing urbanization means we need to live in smaller spaces. This goes hand in hand with a further trend towards greater individualization. In past times, everyone knew their neighbours, but nowadays that is far from being the case. These demographic changes also affect the way in which people wash and dry their clothes and linens With “Meet & Wash”, we want to make our contribution to that trend.”
The aim of “Meet & Wash” is to integrate communal launderettes into businesses, apartments, social housing, service flats, student housing, campgrounds and other communal meeting places. “The client provides the infrastructure and we make available the IPSO CW10 washers, CD10 dryers and/or CS10 dual units free of charge. In addition, we look after the maintenance and repairs without charge via a team of 10 technicians. The users put coins into the machines’ coin slots and the proceeds are divided up proportionately between the landlord and LDL Group.”
Julie Stuyven, Business Development Manager of LDL Group, continues: “The advantages for the client are clear: he or she doesn’t have to invest in the machines for the users, and is not faced with unexpected maintenance and repair costs. The performance of the IPSO machines makes for considerable savings in time and energy. As well, the arrangement promotes social contact among residents.”
To date, LDL Group has already placed around 300 machines in communal launderettes. The company aims to expand the “Meet & Wash” concept to 8,000 machines by 2020.
